Keep track of what you put in your mouth
Watch your servings/portions
Setting The Day for Success
The Key Concept for this week is Metabolism. Metabolism is simply the rate at which our bodies burn calories, whether we are resting or active. As our bodies age, our metabolism slows down. Fewer of the calories we eat are utilized to fuel our bodies and a greater percentages is stored as fat. We slow down and get bigger. The larger we get, the more challenging it is to get up and move at all. The bigger we are, the less we move. The less we move, the bigger we get. This is the vicious cycle of middle age.
The good news is we are able to speed up our metabolism. This week, we will concentrate on the first of four ways to boost metabolism―exercise. Some of you will look at that word and conjure up a negative image of aching muscles, labored breathing, and sweat-stained shirts. The whole idea is repugnant to you. You just want to lose some weight, not look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. (If you're thinking that way relax-none of us will ever look like Arnold Schwarzenegger!) But you can utilize exercise and increased physical movement to help ratchet your metabolic rates. As a bonus, you'll increase your lean muscle mass, reduce excess fat, look better, and feel better.

Success in Action
In your journal, write down three things you like about your body. If you have trouble coming up with three, this is a clue to how your attitude has gotten warped over the years! Write a commitment to your body to continue making positive changes to improve your physical condition and your health.More in book
WEEK 3 Key Concept
Metabolism
The Key Concept for this week is Metabolism. The bane of metabolism is our sedentary lifestyles. We don't move enough. We are not just talking about we don't exercise enough. We are talking about the fact that most of us have jobs were there is very little physical movement.
Increased physical movement not only increases our metabolism, it decreases our stress. Stress is a real drag on metabolism. When we are stressed we tend to eat to cope.
We need to be aware of what we are doing in our evening hours. Heavy, caloric meals in the evening only contribute to your desire to snooze away the evening before you head to bed! Think light–think active–think interactive–for your evening hours!
SPECIAL REPORTS HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT
Read the short article on 10 Good Reasons to Exercise.
Share Comments with others (using the Discussion Board and Chat Room) what reason for exercise is most significant for you and how you plan to increase your exercise.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Read a Proverb and Quote for each day of the week-see Inspirational Calendar
In the Book of Proverbs there are words of wisdom. Each day make an effort to live according to the principles taught in the Proverb for the day. Also meditate on the quote for the day. Post your thoughts on the Discussion Board.
If Proverbs is not for you, find some other literature to read each day that will help you to grow spiritually. Improving and building up the spiritual aspect of your life is part of the Whole-Person Approach to Weight Loss. As you grow spiritually you will have more motivation to stay with your goal to lose weight.
